Cabinet card art

Brenda very generously gave me a pack of cabinet cards last year as a present and I finally got around to using them. This is how I’ve decorated just one of them…

To make the background inside I chose kraft card, a remnant of a piece of Tim’s Resist Kraft stash and one of his Tissue tapes. The edges and part of the cabinet card front have been coloured with Vintage photo DI:

Also in my remnants box was this leftover background silhouette:

Adding part of one of the photo’s from the Found Relatives (Idea-ology) set it was all glued together using Multi Medium matte, the card slid inside and glued into place:

With the cabinet card base ready it was simply a question of what I wanted to use for the embellishments – epoxy stamps, ephemera from the Expedition and Thrift shop packs, metal  alphabet charm, ric-rac ribbon, a metallic word tag and a numbers remnant rub.
Starting to layer up:

To add the finishing touches it was more Tissue tape, a gem flower (remnant of some old junk jewellery) and a small flower with the wire stem curled like a spring:

You can use photo’s of your own family members to make lovely commemorative pieces and mementos to gift to others. What about an old wedding photo to celebrate a wedding anniversary? You will have your own ideas, I’m sure.

Thanks for stopping by, Gabrielle is up next, on Friday.
