Using the new Distress Spray Stains

Hello everyone, it's Brenda here and I thought I would have a little play with the new distress stain sprays and see if they worked using the same techniques I use with the Dylusions sprays. Because these are distress inks in another guise they will react with water and work beautifully to create some backgrounds for projects.

I began by spritzing water onto card and then spraying on fired brick and vintage photo spray stains. They create gorgeous vivid colours and blend perfectly.

Next I laid a clean piece of card over this and smooched them around so that I got two backgrounds from the one spraying. A great economical way to eek the sprays out further. I then heat dried them both.

Using the Tim Holtz Holiday Knit stencil I sprayed in different places with barn door stain to create my patterned background.

I didn’t waste the spray that was on the mask, I turned it over and laid it on the other coloured background creating mottle effects that can be used for another project, i.e. a journal page.

I took some more card and did the wrinkle free technique with some green distress inks then stamped the holly on it and twice more on plain card.

With a water brush I painted in the different parts of the holly …..

….. then cut out the leaves and the berries and layered them up.

I stamped the sentiment on a spare piece of the mottled green card and added some gold embossing powder to both pieces and the edge of the background.

I finished by dyeing some ribbon with distress inks and adding a skate adornment.
