Hi Everyone, Jennie here with you today sharing a Christmas card using quite a few non-Christmassy elements! I am not a great buyer of themed products (sorry Susan !) but do like to think that my stash can cover me for all seasons and events throughout the year!

For my background, I started with some cream cardstock and Vintage Photo Distress Ink along with a collection of small Tim Holtz stamps. A little blending around the edges and some through a layered stencil finished it off. I then cut it into three to add a little more dimension.

The snowflake die was cut in cream cardstock and painted with Brushed Pewter Distress Spray Stain. I painted rather than sprayed as I was really wanting a "here and there" look! I spritzed it with a pearl mist spray to give it a little shimmer, although you can't really see that here.

I have used the largest of the Tammy Tutterow Shabby Posies die to create this flower, spritzing with Candied Peel Distress Spray Stain before scrunching the flower up to dry. Click the link HERE if you want to see the tutorial on my blog for a similar flower. The stamens in the centre were sprayed with Fossilised Amber  Distress Spray Stain for a more Christmassy look!

The leaf cluster is from another Tammy Tutterow die set - Pom Pom Posies. I blended Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo Distress Ink all over before spraying with more shimmer mist.

Finally I stamped a sentiment on one of Tammy's Frayed Tabs (these are fast becoming my most favourite die!). Again a little Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the edges.

And then it was a matter of layering everything up!

So ..... my Christmas card using non-Christmas stamps and dies! .... well apart from the snowflake!

Film Strip Fun

Hello to you all, Jennie here and welcome to my first project this month. 

With drama being a great passion of mine I fell in love with Andy Skinner's Old Film Mask the minute I saw it! So here is it's first outing.

I started off with a blank gessoed tag and added some tissue tape and then used the bottom part of the stencil and crackled medium to create the layered film strip look. (Don't you just love that inky fingerprint !! - not ....)

When dry (and I always let cracke dry naturally) I sprayed the tag with Vintage Photo and Faded Jeans Distress Spay Stain giving a really heavy burst in the middle of the tag. Amazingly this dried disappointingly light by the time I had finished my tag.

I then used the top part of the stencil to create a little bit of texture on the top of the tag - I used both Faded Jeans and Vintage Photo Distress Ink but it really is quite light and again dried even lighter!

Then I added a little stamping - and my apologies that the stamps I have used are not in the shop, but hopefully soon (Andy Skinner's Chateau).

By the time I woke the next morning the inks had dried quite light so I added a vial label and some rub ons.

And finally .... a little collage using one of my favourite Photo Booth photos.

A neat little masculine tag which I think would be good to recreate in a card for a male family member.

Watercolour background cards

It's a simple design today - but a great way to create a few cards. My apologies I have no process photos but I will explain what I did.

1. I took some watercolour card, not a necessity, any good quality card stock will do. I stamped the smaller flower from Emma Godfrey's - Bloom - stamp set (Paper Artsy) in versamark randomly around the card. I also stamped the little swirl in between the flowers. 

2. I then embossed with clear embossing powder.

3. I cut my card into 4 pieces 8.5cm square. The fourth card didn't work out too well - so it ended in the bin!

4. For each piece I took distress sprays - broken china and twisted citron, scattered straw and peeled paint (I think!) and vintage photo and milled lavender - and gave a little spritz of each colour followed by a spritz of water. 

5. I heat dried and edged the card with distress ink in a coordinating colour. I wiped away any ink from the embossed flowers which resist the ink.

6. I matted on white (9x9cm) and then coloured card (9.5x9.5cm) - coloured with the same two colours.

7. I stamped and embossed a sentiment from my stash, punched an oval and coloured with the two colours with ink again.

8. Finally I mounted on 10cm square cards.
