Spring or Easter gift tag

Isn't it great having the evenings draw out again and soon and this next weekend is Easter, so Spring is hopefully well on its way.

Easter eggs and gifts will be shared in a few days so I thought I would make a quick gift tag for you to make and attach to the present that goes to someone special.

Begin with distress oxides in spiced marmalade, broken china and cracked pistachio and create a dip and dry background.

 Stamp some flying bugs, I used the Entomology set of stamps by Tim Holtz and used his stamping platform to get a strong outline ( I stamped it twice using coffee and black archival inks)

Take forest moss, pine needles, tea dye and rusty hinge ordinary distress inks and with a paintbrush paint in the wings. I also used some white linen ink spray by dylusions to highlight the bodies.

Next take some scraps of paper and tear pieces to cover the butterflies and stamp the text stamp, also from the etymology set, with broken china doxide.. 

Before removing the paper lightly spritz over with water and heat dry.

Stamp the small butterflies from the classics 17 stamps and remove the little Fig. numbers, cut, distress ink the edges and adhere. Also stamp the special delivery from the correspondence set directly onto the tag.

I always 'frame' my tags, cards etc and didn't want to rely just on the normal distress inked edges so I searched my boxes of old unknown stamps and found a fabulous forgotten distressed border stamp which I used with cornflower blue archival ink.

Finally I covered the winged bugs again and splattered some white gesso and then finished with the distress inked edges.

A lovely gift tag with springlike images and colours don't you think?

Hippity Hoppity

So Trace here today with some Easter cards that I have created using lots of yummy distress oxides and lots of other goodies..

I started by applying some matte texture paste through Tim Stencil, no 034 and leaving to dry. I applied at top and bottom of piece of card to fit card front in opposite corners...I love the crisp design it creates .

So I will carry on with all the details for the orange card and all the steps are the same for the greeny toned card and the tags  - yes I made matching tags too...

I started by smooshing some distress oxides onto my craft sheet and spritizing with water..( here I used worn lipstick,fozzilised amber and spiced marmalade ditress oxides )

I swiped my card through and dried, spritizng with a little water and repeated this dipping and dabbing and drying between each layer, spritzing a bit more water until happy...I just love how the colours layer and the effect of water is something special!

I used the left over oxides to dye some seam binding, spritzing, dipping in left over colour and scrunching in a ball, leaving overnight to dry as I like the crinkle you get but you can gently heat dry if you're in a rush.

For the green colours I used peeled paint, fossilized amber and a smidge of cracked pistachio distress oxides.

Mr Bunny was cut from a movers and shapers Tim Holtz die and covered with a layer of grit paste which I dabbed my palette knife into to create texture...once dry he was coloured with ink and distress crayons and his little bow added.

The flowers were cut from a piece of card already coloured with the same technique using the distress oxides as for the card from without texture paste ...I then used the new Tim Holtz thinlits - small tattered florals die cut lots of flowers and leaves that were edged with brown distress ink.

I added some distress ink in brown to the edges of the card having added coloured panel to card front, I used ground espresso distress ink.

To completed the card I added a stitched oval piece, also coloured in same way, Mr Bunny, the hand dyed seam binding and the flowers and leaves with potting soil enamel accents for centres and finally a stamped greeting using black soot archival and Tim Holtz crazy talk stamps..

and here is the completed green tones one...

I also made some matching tags , minus the paste in the same way ...

And people are always asking how I use my tags ...so here is how...this was part of an Easter gift for my Mum and Dad...and I think the tag looks so much nicer than a bottle bag...

Easter cards with Tim Holtz Snowglobe die

with my second post in March.

Like in February I would like to show you another - not wintery - use of Tim Holtz Snowglobe die.

Earlier in my blog I have already made I quite similar Easter card but here I would like to give you a full tutorial about how I made that and of course these:-)

And now here is my instructions:

1. Cut out the card base from kraft paper.

2. Choose a coloured cardstock and cut out a one size smaller rectangle.

3. Emboss it with Tim Holtz Flourish embossing folder.

4. Ink the edges with Vintage Photo.

5. With white ink colour the embossed papers. Now here I have to tell you that for this I used a special "thing" which was added to one of my Sizzix embossing folders packages - you can see this white thing in my picture. Do you know what it is? I have no idea but very useful :-))

6. When you finished you can glue your embossed paper to the base card.

7. Cut out the bottom of the snow globe 2 times from heavy weight cardstock. Glue them together.

8. Stamp the Happy Easter text in the middle.

9. Ink the edges with Vintage Photo.

10. Cut out the upper part from blue cardstock. 

11. Smear the surface with white acrylic paint and a sponge.

12. When it's dry spritz it with Ranger Distress Spray Stain (Stormy Sky).

13. When it's totally dry tap white acrylic paint on the surface with a sponge. Just tap, don't smear!

14. Cut out the wildflowers from green cardstock. Ink the edges with Vintage Photo.

15. Tap the flowers with white acrylic paint.

16. Cut out the rabbits from brown cardstock twice. Glue them together and with the sponge you used for whiting the flowers, contour the edges of the rabbits.

17. Cut out the bows from same paper you used for the flourished rectangle.

18. Glue all the elements on the blue snow globe. In the end you can just cut off the overhanging parts of the flowers.

19. Put the card together :-) For the big parts I used double sided adhesive tape.

20. If you wish cut out some tiny butterflies from the same cardstock you used for the flourished part and bow.

21. Add the butterflies and some half pearls to the card.

Egg shaped Easter card by Tim Holtz

Hello everybody, it's Monika again!

I'm trying to make a few Easter cards before the holiday, so here is one of them.

And here is my step by step tutorial.

I cut out a large egg shaped card with Sizzix die from kraft paper.

Then a one size smaller from watercolour paper.

With white ink I stamped Tim's wildflowers onto the watercolour paper and sprinkled with white embossing powder. 

With my heat tool I melted the embossing powder then I started to colour the egg with Distress inks and a sponge.

I spritzed with water and white the edge with Picked Fence paint.

From watercolour paper I cut out the butterflies with Tim's Sizzlits die and coloured with Distress markers. Then with a wet brush I blended the colours.

I'm sorry, I forgot to take pictures about the rabbit.  But first of all, I have to tell you that it was a wood mounted stamp before. But since I got my Misti Stamping tool I have transformed all my wood mounted stamp into a cling mounted stamp :-) So in this case I used my Misti and I stamped Tim's rabbit with Archival ink (Potting Soil) and after I put and melted clear embossing powder on it. I coloured with Distress markers.

I glued all the elements and then added chit chat stickers.
