Halloween birthday card

With Halloween finally here (tomorrow) I'm seizing my chance to use the fabulous Graphic 45 'Steampunk spells' papers once more with this natty little 4" x 4" birthday card. I've used a design from the 8" x 8" paper pad...

This lovely set of (Marianne Design) ivy dies makes a great corner feature and lifts the background a little....

I added this fab new (Cheery Lynn) steampunk clock to the centre and added the (Marianne Design) penny farthing over the top....

I added a small, glittered spider to the top left...

and the Movers & shapers mini bird with a leafy stalk to the bottom right to finish...

Have fun this Halloween!

Halloween Movers & Shapers Tag

Today it's a purple Halloween, an XL tag cut from white card and using a corner punch left and right top to shape it and using lots of Movers and shapers dies...

I started by colouring the tag using Distress stains and then wrapped a strip of black mesh glitter ribbon around it. The image of the children is from the Tim Holtz Halloween cutouts stamp collection which is stamped with black Archival ink. The '31' is cut using the Movers & shapers die set which includes the spider (below) too. The 'Diamond' Stickles makes a great glittery finish to it.

The crown was cut and glued behind the owl (both are also Movers & shapers dies) before adding the Stickles glitter...

As well as adding the spider I also included the two mini apothecary bottles (Movers & shapers) using Stickles for the corks...

I love these Movers and shapers dies, not only are they great as die cuts but you can use them as just silhouette shapes cut FROM the card with mirricard or texture card behind them.

I hope you have all escaped the ravages of the hurricane winds - have a great week!

More soon,

Butterfly time

Amongst all the Halloween furore let’s not forget our old faithfuls…

I started by cutting out a stencil using the Damask Thinlits die then using the stencil with grunge paste to get the raised border effect. When it had hardened I rubbed the card lightly with Distress ink using a blending tool and then water-bleached it. When that was dry I gave a light misting of a gold glimmer mist. Lastly, I added some Treasure Gold to make it ‘pop’.

The pocket watch was made from Tim’s M&S Mini pocket watch die stamped with an old clear stamp watch face.

I used one of Tim’s saying stamps too, for the text and a butterfly and flower from my scraps box. The netting is a self-adhesive roll of something I found in a DIY shop (if you know what it’s called please let me know, lol) which is inked with Vintage photo Distress ink.

Just a snip of ordinary, simple, white border lace added to the bottom to finish it off.

Ahhhhh, that grunge paste is a fabulous thing, lol.

More in a few days,

Snips n swirls

You know how it is…. it’s time to tidy up your craft area and there are all these shapes you’ve cut out and not used, lots of scraps etc…..? This is what I created this time around…

I covered a tag with a mottled backing paper and edged it with Distress ink before adding some scraps of handmade paper. Then I cut the Mistletoe swirl from the die and painted it with Fresco paint.

Next I added a (Marianne Creatables) Moroccon bird cage which I'd cut and rusted for something else but not used and popped a little bird on the top…

To finish, I made some swirls by wrapping slivers of off-cuts around a quilling tool…

Have fun with your scraps and see what you can make!

It’s a green Halloween

This card was made for a challenge but what fab products I got to use!

Based on a theme of green and black I started by using my Tim Holtz Halloween night Texture fade on card coloured with various green Distress stains which was finally edged with his Black soot Distress pad.

I also used the black to rub over the embossed areas before highlighting with Emerald Treasure gold.

I filled a 7 Gypsies Apothecary bottle with some crystals and added a poison label for good measure. The bow is just same plain cream chiffon stained with various Distress stains and dried with a heat gun.

I also stained some dress lace, added at the bottom and used a Prima flower on top of die cut debris edged in black for additional embellishment. The text is from Tim’s fabulous ‘Simple sayings’ stamp set.

More soon, thanks for stopping by.
