Without leaving home

Hello! Hope this finds you well! I have been experimenting with paints and different ways to use them and I have been mixing up some stamps by Lynne Perrella for PaperArtsy to make curious characters - I thought I share a tag and show you how I made it.
I took a regular large tag and covered it in Tissue Wrap. I used Multi Medium Matte to glue it down as it glues really well and provides a nice surface to work on! Make sure it's dry! (1) Then I took a palette knife (or a credit card!) and scraped a few thin layers of green paint over the tag. I used Hey Pesto PaperArtsy Fresco paint which is translucent so every layer is seen thorough the next one. (2) I then added some Grunge Paste through a couple of stencils and rubbed Beach Hut paint over the dried paste (3). I then added a little more paint colours with my finger and dabbed it off with a baby wipe so I got a just a hint of colour. I love this bit as you can wipe off any paint you don't like!
I then stamped my chosen images from Lynne Perrella for PaperArtsy onto a piece of tissue paper and then painted the reverse with the paints I used on the tag. It looks pretty awful on the back but the front is lovely! Honestly! I cut out the images and glued it to the tag.
I stamped out a phrase I found on the internet and stamped out each letter and then doodled around the tag with a black pen. I had intended to use my fabulous Tim Holtz alphabet stamps but I've lent them to a friend so I have to ask you to imagine I used them!
I hope you like my tag - I'm back next week with another version!

  1. what a great tag - and I'm very impressed with the way you've got your photos side by side like that... that's useful, how do you do it? (I suppose it's some fancy Mac thing? lol)

  4. I love the collage effect on this! I couldn't believe it when I saw that quote because I think it might be Anish Kapoor. I read it years ago and it really inspired me because it says so much about how we can escape through creativity. Brilliant tutorial on using LP images with originality and verve too. Julie Ann xxx
