Scribbly Bird Celebrations

I decided to reach for my scraps box for this card and found a background I had been playing with. This was mop up mostly with Deco Art paints.

I cut some strips and edge with Wilted Violet Distress Ink,

I stamped and inked my bird with Wilted Violet, Cracked Pistachio and a little Salty Ocean inks. Once cut out I added some additional violet around the edges.

I decided my bird needed some greenery so I die cut one of Tim Holtz Holiday Greens thinlits and added similar colours.

My greeting is from Tim Holtz Hashtags but I cut off the hashtag! A little lace was added too.

Hello, Jennie here with you today sharing a small card made using some of my favourite Sissix Thinlits Dies.

My collection of Sissix dies is growing ! but I love the way you can mix and match so many different elements on a project. These are the ones I picked out for this project.

I cut everything out in cream cardstock first - quick and easy layering everything onto the one sheet.

I selected a few of my favourite Distress Ink colours: Dusty Concord, Seedless Preserves and Peeled Paint. I inked the cardstock before rolling the small flowers, but do give the ink time to dry! In my impatience I started rolling when the ink was still a little wet and had hands to match!

For the background of my card I stamped the Linen Stamp first in Picket Fence Distress Paint and when it was thoroughly dry inked my craft mat with Antique Linen Distress Ink and picked up the ink here and there (the wrinkle free distress technique), finally adding a little around the edges too.

And then the fun bit putting it all together!

Decou-page Resist

Hi, it's Brenda with you again today and I'm going to show you a quick background using DecoArt's Decou-page glue/sealer. I got carried away making an easel card on a canvas board with my technique practice piece for the upcoming workshop (details can be found HERE if you would like to see more about it) and forgot to take photos, but here are some using card.

I began by using a baby wipe to blend over a light cover of hansa yellow medium fluid acrylic paint. The canvas board I used had been sealed and I should have given the card a coat of clear or white gesso before I started and would recommend you do so if using card as your base.

Give the background a quick blast of the heat gun to dry it off and then brayer small amounts of the decou-page randomly over it.

Again heat dry, lightly spritz over with water it and still using a babywipe gently rub over cadmium red hue. You can see how the decou-page has acted as a resist.

Repeat the deco-page layer again and the last step this time using quinacridone burnt orange. You can see the yellow and red through the darker orange colour.

Finish by lightly brayering titanium white over the top to create a bit more depth and some added interest.

So here I caught up with the same steps I had followed on the canvas and you can see how different it looks. The canvas took the colours in a completely different way and the results are paler and more subtle. You can also see the linen texture of the canvas itself.

I finished it by inking the edges and simply with some autumnal berries and flower. I was tempted to add some background stamping but as I had done that on the mini harvest board I left well alone. You know that feeling - should you add something more or not??? But I was glad to be using my little practice board and not letting it go to waste.

A few simple autumnal embellishments and we're done.

TOP TIP

Don't forget to wipe over your roller with a clean babywipe after each time you use it with the decou-page otherwise the glue will dry quickly and gunge your roller up.

Today's post is another using the incredibly versatile Infusions from PaperArtsy. They can be used a variety of ways but this is my 'go to' way! This is how to make a very quick journal page!

Coat your page with white paint. Add a very small line of  Matte Glaze to the top of your page and then sprinkle Black Knight Infusions - you need less than you think! Using an old credit card, scrape the glaze down the page, picking up the Infusions as you go. You'll get a really nice worn effect!

I added a little white paint over the top because I wanted an even more worn look!c

Some stamping and a little gold paint later and it's finished!
