Anchors Aweigh !

Hello Everyone!
Today I am sharing a nautical tag using these wonderful new Mariner Blueprint Stamps and that gorgeous Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink.

I started with my base tag and used the Harlequinn Die from the Mixed Media Set to create some interest in the bottom left hand corner. I then blended Mermaid Lagoon and Cracked Pistachio Distress Inks over the tag and gave it all a good spritz with water.  Finally I echoed the die cut by using the Harlequinn Layering Stencil in the top right hand corner using Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink. Such a great combination of colours for a nautical look.

I inked up another tag to go underneath with Wild Honey Distress Ink grading the colour from very dark at the bottom and again gave it a good spritzing with water. I quite like creating a bit of interest at the sides of the tag by tearing some little strips of tissue tape and then tearing them in half - not quite so overpowering as a complete piece.

The Mariner Blueprint Stamps were stamped with Black Arcival onto Ranger Manilla Card and I then blended Distress Inks to create colour. Just Vintage Photo for the Ships Wheel but creating different depths of colour by adding pressure here and there. The rope was coloured first with Mustard Seed and then Vintage Photo over the top. A little light spritzing combines the colour.

You need  a good sharp pair of scissors and a cup of coffee as it takes a while to cut out the wheel! but worth it I think. The handwritten sentiments die cuts layer perfectly on this type of tag and just seem to hover over the layers.

I have added some more stamping onto the tag using some of the number stamps from the Correspondence Set and added some paper tape and negative ribbon to create a bit more interest.  A couple of fancy brads set off the wheel and filled in the space in the top left hand corner. (I personalised the tag as I intend it to become the cover of a small notebook for the Skipper!)

Thank you for joining me today and I hope I may have inspired you with these wonderful Maritime Blueprint stamps.

Don't forget to fly

Hi everyone, it's Brenda here. I love using the photo booth pictures and this beautiful lady made me immediately think of Amelia Earheart, I think mainly because of the leather jacket she seems to be wearing - perfect for those  daring adventures during the pioneering days of flight.

I am using the DecoArt media range today and particularly these gorgeous fluid acrylics. They are highly pigmented and formulated to deliver professional artist performance at all skill levels and at an affordable price. Fluid Acrylics are flexible, intermixable, durable, and permanent.

I began by covering the tag with media gesso and then when dry added some small spots of paint on my craft mat and took the Tim Holtz chevron stencil and a small piece of blending foam.

I already had an idea for a layout so I kept my design in two places only.

I could see I needed a pop of colour so using a splatter stamp and cadmium orange hue stamped some small random areas.

Next some strips of tissue tape ...

.... and bring in some watery colour for the background, I use a babywipe to apply it.

Add texture with some patterned and text stamps using black archival ink.

Add somne more to the design if needed, including remnant rubs and splatter with walnut stain distress ink.

Finish by adding the focal photo and embellishments to complete the tag.

Lots of Idea-Ology and the fabulous new punches from Tim Holtz.

Thanks for stopping by .....

.... I hope you are inspired to fly with your art this weekend.

hugs Brenda xxx
