Easter card

Hi Everyone - Brenda here with a Spring Easter card for you using the lovely Distress Oxides.

I began with the wrinkle free distress technique using just broken china and iced spruce distress oxides ......

and then splattered over some ground espresso and hickory smoke DIs to get a sort of speckled egg effect.

For the oval I used broken china DI direct to card using the ink pad and then stamped with water to create the ghost effect. I blended hickory smoke round the edges.

I stamped and cut out the bird colouring it in with watery hickory smoke and broken china DIs .....

... and I stamped the nest onto the oval.

I created the egg by again using the wrinkle free technique this time with pumice stone and scattered straw DIs and stamped with frayed burlap.

Although I stamped four I only used one on the project, but it leaves me with some to tuck into other projects if they fit.

To bring some contrasting colour into the card I die-cut some of the small tattered florals from yellow and orange offcuts of core'dinations paper, spritzed them with water and scrunched them before leaving them to dry.

I also triple dipped some seam binding ribbon into broken china oxide.

I used the hashtag sentiments for my sentiment word but I cut the actual hashtag sign off of it (don't tell Tim!) but I do like the words on their own and I cut the legs off the bird so she could sit neatly on the nest.

There we have my Easter card, I hope it brings you a little inspiration to create your own Spring card.

Peace On Earth

Hello Everyone! Jennie here today with the first of my projects for this month.

I am sharing a 3" x 6" Christmas card (I think this might become my favourite size!) using some of Tim Holtz's latest products and techniques and some old favourites too.

I started with a piece of white cardstock and used Tim's technique for his November tag. You can get all the details here. Whilst I used Picket Fence Distress Paint to create the resist I used Old Paper Distress Ink using the Wrinkle Free Technique rather than the Distress Sprays he uses.  I absolutely love this technique and stamp and you may get a little fed up with seeing it !!!!

Whilst this was drying I used the Tattered Florals Punch to create my base petals and sprayed them all with Dylusions Postbox Red Ink Spray.

They got the usual scrunched up treatment and then I made the  roses. Click the link HERE if you want to see the tutorial on my blog for making these vintage style roses.

Holly leaves were next: I cut one set from the Holiday Greens die and sprayed them with Peeled Paint Distress Spray Stain. I love the way the paint dries in such a mottled way.

Then it was time to put it all together:  matting my linen style backing sheet onto some dark green cardstock and creating a little cluster of the flowers and leaves with some scrim and pearl trim.

Finally I added a sentiment and some pearls.

This really is a cute little card and the Tattered Florals Punch creates a smaller flower which fits these smaller scale projects perfectly.

Thank you for joining me today and whatever you are doing I hope you are managing a little crafting as well.

Tattered florals meets Wendy Vecchi

Hi everyone, Nikki here from Addicted to Art. I was lucky enough to attend the Wendy Vecchi workshop in London a few weeks ago and felt inspired to create in her style. This was more difficult than I planned with a lack of her products - so this is very much a Tim Holtz products / Wendy Vecchi style tag!
I took a tag and distress inks in peeled paint and broken china. I covered my tag and then flicked water on it. Once dry I took my zig zag layering stencil to create the top and bottom border and then the flourish stencil to add some background to the central portion.

I cut my leaves from garden greens and trimmed to fit and also the tattered florals flowers. The leaves were painted with forest moss distress paint and randomly stamped with black archival.
For the flowers I was attempting Wendy's faux granite technique but only had clear, white and black embossing powder so it isn't really her technique at all! I coloured the grungepaper flowers with plum archival and clear embossing powder and heated. I added more ink and a mixture of clear with sprinkles of black embossing powder and heated again. Finally one more layer of clear. I stamped dots with ranger white pigment ink and let dry.
Finishing touches included adding black around the edges of my die cuts, a little faux stitching around the tag, some remnant rubs and some black seam binding.
Thanks for visiting today
Nikki
