Nikki here, from Addicted to Art, to share my first project for April. It is my sister’s wedding anniversary in a couple of days so I made this card for them.
I must apologise for the lack of step by step photos. I made this at a crafting retreat a couple of weeks ago. I was very organised and charged the battery in my camera the night before I left and then failed to take the charged charger with me. In my frustration I didn’t think to use my phone camera!
The striped base layer is card from one of Tim Holtz paper stacks. The little border is die cut using the Decorative Strip sizzlit – Vintage Lace.
For the embossed layer I painted some embossed card stock with gesso. Once dry I marbled various distress paints – tea dye, antique linen and vintage photo. A bit of water was also spritzed and my heat tool used to dry it. I then sanded the surface to reveal the embossing.
The butterfly was done in a similar way but once sanded I added some salty ocean distress paint with my finger over the raised areas and around the edge. The butterfly was cut and embossed using the Butterfly Duo Bigz die and texture fade.
‘Together’ was cut from the Sizzix thinlits set – Handwritten Love. I don’t have these but borrowed them at my craft weekend. They are great – I have since purchased the ‘Celebrate’ set! Once cut I dabbed on some vintage photo DP and once dry added some salty ocean.
I added a button and some twine to my butterfly and put my card together. I hope my sister likes it!
Thanks for visiting today.
