A Remembrance Tag

There are many of us that celebrated Mothers’ Day spiritually yesterday as our Mums are no longer with us so I thought it might be a nice idea to have a remembrance tag…

I decided on a palette of Crushed olive and Tumbled glass to represent the beginning of Spring and used Tim’s wrinkle free distress method for creating the background:

All stamping has been using Archival inks onto a scap of tag - the texts have been stamped with black and the facial features in Cobalt blue. Next came the grunge paste with one of Tim’s stencils:

Whilst the grunge paste is drying it’s a matter of prepping all the decorations – cutting the die shapes, painting them etc. As soon as the paste is dry it’s on with more DIs to colour it with a little spritz of water to blend them:

The edge of the tag has been coloured with Rusty hinge DI using a blending tool and a little rub of Treasure Gold Renaissance over parts of the paste texture. Now it’s a matter of gathering and finishing off all the decorations. (The tattered flower has been made using layers of book pages and Wendy Vecchi Clearly For Art modelling film daubed with alcohol inks.):

    Yes it is always a remembering day for me too Chris, but what a lovely way to remember! Your background is just wonderful - so much interest and texture and fabulous colourful embellishments. It all works so wonderfully x

    A remembering day is such a lovely idea. I love how you have layered up to give texture and dimension and that tattered floral is beautiful. I think I 'need' that face and eyes stamp set now....... xx

    What a lovely thought, Chris, and you and Bren must have been missing your Mum. I don't have children and my Mum has Alzheimers and I find the day difficult but it is also so nice for Mums everywhere to be appreciated, and to remember the loved ones we have lost. This is such a beautiful tag and lovely sentiment behind it,
