A Little Perspective

Welcome to my first project for March. I thought I would make a card with the wonderful new Perspective stamps from Tim Holtz. If you are anything like me when new stuff comes out you think ‘I do not need any more butterflies!’. I did, but I bought it anyway and am glad I did. The butterfly stamp is stunning, the numbers will make great backgrounds and the words are gorgeous.

I started with some scraps and glued them to the card. Once dry I added a little gesso over the scraps to take them back a little and also randomly over the card as it would resist the ink sprays coming later.

I added a little interest to the background by stenciling with black archival through the Schoolhouse stencil. I then took the Bubbles stencil  and added texture paste. I spritzed with pumice stone Distress spray while the paste was still wet and then let it dry. (You can see below how it is resisted where the gesso is.)

While drying I stamped the butterfly with black archival and and coloured the card firstly with a spritz of pumice stone and when dry added cracked pistachio ink before fussy cutting. I then added additional colour with my water brush and some black around the edges.

I finished my card by adding some cracked pistachio over the dry background and stamped one of the phrases and cut out the word ‘beauty’.
