simply steampunk

Hi Trace here and today I have a male card to share with you , full of layers and plenty of ephemera..with a smattering of idea-ology thrown in!

To start this card I took a piece as big as the card front and brayed some distress paint in  picket fence onto surface. I allowed this to dry ( blasting with a heat gun is allowed!)

Then I applied some frayed  burlap distress stain spray or you could use distress stain to my craft sheet and spritzed with water.

I then rolled my brayer through to pick up some of the colour onto the brayer ..

i then gently rolled / skimmed it over the piece of card ( with paint on ) , this will allow the picket fence to show through and create a great effect.

To add more detail to the background smoosh distress inkpad onto craft sheet , spritz with water and dab in piece of card to add some dappled spots of colour.

I chose the main image from french Industrial paper stack...adding some stitching around the edges..I know its wobbly .. but I new at this sewing thing!

To complete the card front I added the panel onto card and then edged with aged mahogany and the walnut stain distress ink.

I then smooshed on some decoart crackle paste onto areas of the card front using a palette knife and left it to do its magic!

Now to add lots of layers of ephemera and some idea-ology for good measure..

The stitching adds an additional detail to the piece..

I love the mini gears and they help add interest and texture to the card.

here is a close up of the lovely texture from the crackle paste..

Well hope you like my make for today and see you next month.
keep those fingers inky
Trace x
