Saying thanks Chinese style…

Don’t you just love the way we’re spoilt with styles and designs influenced from cultures all around the world? I’ve never really taken to the Chinese style but when I saw this paper it drew me to create something with a Chinese influence.

Having a broad idea of what I wanted to design, I started by stiffening some grosgrain ribbon…

Next it was attending to the basics, the mat and layering of the base. The main design paper has been seriously tattered on the edges before staining significantly with Walnut stain distress ink. The same colour was lightly applied to the edge of the orange base layer too…

I wanted to ‘ripple’ the blue ribbon as a band for part of the card which is why I stiffened it. A quick drying, metal glue was used to get the effect…

Treasure gold is a brilliant medium for adding contrast and lift to any piece so it’s no surprise I added it to the scroll as I cut out the pieces I wanted…

So far, so good….

The oval, cut with one of the Movers & shapers dies, is embossed with the ‘planks’ texture fade and highlighted with Treasure Gold. The bonsai tree has been edges and I also found a Chinese 'stamp' in my stash to place under the oval...

Diamond Stickles has been used to create the eye of the bird and to highlight the leaves on the bonsai tree...

I also added a gold metal butterfly…

So here’s the finished card…

Hope you like this.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your week,
