Start doing the things you love

I hope your weekend is going well! Nikki here from Addicted to Art to share an altered mdf panel today. Sorry I have been shockingly bad at taking process photos recently.

I started by taking my panel and giving it a coat of gesso. Once dry I carefully added tissue tape to the edges before coating with paper artsy translucent paint - I think this was Inky Pool. I then took some printed tissue paper (eg Tim Holtz tissue wrap) - cutting a piece a bit bigger that I needed. I used matt medium over my panel and then placed the tissue on making sure I got lots of creases. Once dry I lightly sanded off the overhanging bits. I then dry brushed the surface with gesso to highlight the texture of the creases.

I took some greyboard and adhered a double sided self adhesive sheet. I then die cut some hearts before added gilding flakes to the sticky surface. I added some black archival ink around the edges of the hearts. I added a game spinner using a fastener as an embellishment and then mounted them with foam pads to give some dimension.

Finally I added a 'Small Talk' sticker and some treasure gold around the edges to highlight.

Thanks for stopping by. See you next time.
Nikki

  1. Lovely, it's ages since I've used gilding flakes, a great reminder of how lovely they can look.
